Roots of Fire project success

In 2017, Roots of Fire crossed the world from India to UK in a project that saw hundreds of children working with Sinfonia Verdi musicians and master of sarod Amjad Ali Khan to create and perform a new piece of music.

Thanks to funding from Bagri Foundation, Arts Council England, Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation, and support from project partners Sinfonia Verdi gave 48 school workshops with 360 children in Luton, Slough and Leicester.

Performances in venues in each town saw audiences from a diverse range of backgrounds coming together to enjoy music by Mozart and Handel as well as improvisations from Amjad Ali Khan and Roots of Fire - a fusion of music from East and West.
